James L. Flinn III

Executive-in-Residence
The University of Alabama in Huntsville

James L. Flinn III was named Executive-in-Residence and Adjunct Professor, College of Administrative Sciences, UAH in September 2004.

He has been married to the former Nancy Dyar of Huntsville for thirty-eight years; their son Josh is a graduate of Auburn and UAH; daughter Katie and son-in-law John also completed undergraduate and graduate studies at Auburn.

He is a member and Sunday School teacher at Willowbrook Baptist Church, President of Willowbrook Board of Trustees; Vice Chairman of the Alabama Space Science Exhibit Commission and member of the U.S. Space and Rocket Center Foundation Board; member of the Board of Directors of the ARC of Madison County and member of the Foundation Board of the ARC; member of the Board of Directors of the Huntsville Rehabilitation Foundation; member of the Executive Committee of the Tennessee Valley WIRED (Workforce Innovations)

Mr. Flinn served the US Army for thirty-five years with assignments in Germany, Washington D.C., Texas, Illinois and Alabama. He held executive level positions at Headquarters, Department of Army, Headquarters, Army Materiel Command and at AMCOM and retired in 2004 as Deputy to the Commanding General, AMCOM, responsible for over ten thousand employees, over thirty thousand acres and an annual contract budget of over thirteen billion dollars. He is a graduate of the University of Alabama and University of Southern California.
